Institutional Event Grant Application

Texas Women in Higher Education (TWHE) will award grants for up to $500 for regional initiatives, such as programs, networking events, and speakers, which involve women in higher education. It is preferred that these events involve more than one institution in the region, but that is not required.

Eligibility

To be eligible for grant funding, the program or event must support the mission of Texas Women in Higher Education to advance women who hold or aspire to leadership roles in higher education. In addition, the program or event should address at least one of TWHE’s strategic priorities listed below.

  1. 1. Provide professional development, networking, and advocacy for women holding or aspiring to leadership positions in higher education
  2. 2. Empower women to take advantage of opportunities for advancement and professional growth
  3. 3. Promote women’s involvement in local, state, and national leadership development opportunities
  4. 4. Recognize women leaders and celebrate their contributions to higher education
  5. 5. Engage leaders in supporting the mission and strategic priorities of TWHE
Application and Award Process

Applications must be submitted on the Institutional Event Grant Application Form. Grants will be awarded in the order in which they are received. Applications must be submitted no later than 30 days prior to the program or event. Funds will be awarded after the program or event unless otherwise agreed upon.

By submitting this application you agree to the following:

  1. 1. Institutional Event Grant awardees are required to attend the 2025 TWHE annual conference.
  2. 2. All grant awardees will participate in a panel at the annual conference to share their experiences with other attendees.
  3. 3. All grant awardees will receive free conference registration.
  4. 4. All grant awardees will be featured in a press release to be shared in various outlets such as TWHE LinkedIn and Facebook pages. The press release will also be shared with the awardee’s institution.
  5. 5. All grant awardees are required to submit receipts to the TWHE Treasurer showing how grant funds were used. Grant funds must be sent in direct support of the program or event that is proposed.
  6. 6. All grant awardees agree that any unused funds will be returned to TWHE by a deadline to be set by the organization.

TWHE reserves the right to make changes in this application and award process at its discretion and without notice.

Preference is given to individuals who have not received this type of funding previously. An individual who received a grant in the past two years is not eligible to participate in the current application cycle. Leadership Development Grant Application

TWHE leadership development grants are designed to support women in higher education in Texas as they pursue opportunities for advancement and professional growth. Women at higher education institutions across Texas are encouraged to consider a professional development project that will lead to career advancement.

Application and Award Process

Applications will be assessed on four criteria:
  • Overall quality of application (completeness, clarity)
  • Candidate’s desire to grow professionally in light of the American Council of Education’s Moving the Needle Initiative and TWHE’s vision to transform higher education leadership in Texas and beyond
  • Candidate’s proposed project and expected outcomes
  • Feasibility of proposed project

TWHE Announces the 2024 Leadership Development Grant Recipients

Texas Christian Texas Women in Higher Education (TWHE) has announced the recipients of their 2024 Institutional Event and Leadership Development Grants, given to only nine women state-wide. TWHE grants are designed to support women in higher education in Texas as they pursue opportunities for advancement and professional growth. Recipients will each pursue individual projects that will support their goals, then will attend the TWHE conference in Corpus Christi, Texas in April 2024. The grant recipients are Khristie Prince, Tyler Junior College; Keren Longshore, M.S., Tyler Junior College; Lory Z. Santiago-Vázquez, Ph.D., and Angela Kelling, Ph.D., University of Houston-Clear Lake; Laurel Smith Stvan, Ph.D., University of Texas at Arlington; Ritu Gairola Khanduri, PhD., University of Texas at Arlington; Cheryl Marcelo, M.Ed., Austin College; Kristie Cerling, Ed.D., Houston Christian University; and Swagata Chakraborty, Ph.D., University of North Texas.
