HOUSTON, TX – Texas Women in Higher Education (TWHE) is pleased to announce the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors: Beth Fleener, Channell Cook, Charlotte Rodgers, Sheree Bogany, and Teena Marie Wilson.
These accomplished leaders bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and dedication to advancing women in higher education leadership across Texas. Their collective backgrounds span academic affairs, student success, workforce development, community engagement, and institutional leadership, further strengthening TWHE’s commitment to supporting and empowering women professionals in higher education.
Beth Fleener serves as a Senior Teaching Innovation Research Associate at The University of Texas at Arlington, where she supports faculty development, innovative teaching practices, and graduate student success through the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence (CRTLE). With extensive experience in curriculum development, instructional innovation, and faculty engagement, Dr. Fleener leads initiatives that strengthen teaching excellence, student belonging, and academic success across the institution. She is recognized for her collaborative leadership, commitment to professional development, and dedication to advancing inclusive and student-centered learning environments in higher education.
Channell Cook serves as a Division Chair of Learning Frameworks at Lee College, where she is committed to advancing student success, academic achievement, and community engagement. With experience in student services, enrollment support, and institutional collaboration, Dr. Cook is recognized for her student-centered leadership style and dedication to creating accessible pathways for learners to achieve their educational and professional goals. Her work reflects a strong commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments, supporting workforce and community partnerships, and enhancing opportunities for students across the region.
Charlotte Rodgers serves as a higher education leader at Houston Christian University, where she is dedicated to supporting student achievement, institutional effectiveness, and community engagement. Known for her thoughtful leadership and collaborative approach, Rodgers brings valuable experience in higher education operations, relationship building, and student support initiatives. She is committed to creating positive educational environments that encourage academic growth, leadership development, and meaningful connections among students, faculty, and staff.
Sheree Bogany is the Corporate and Community Partnerships Executive at Abilene Christian University, where she contributes to advancing student success, institutional initiatives, and campus engagement efforts. With experience in university operations and student-centered programs, Bogany is recognized for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to fostering environments where students can thrive academically, personally, and professionally. Her work reflects a strong dedication to service, relationship-building, and supporting initiatives that enhance the overall student experience within the university community.
Teena Marie Wilson is the Director of Employee Relations and Benefits / Human Resources at San Jacinto College, with an expertise that spans the full spectrum of HR functions, including payroll and benefits administration, talent acquisition and retention, succession planning, and strategic workforce planning, complemented by extensive experience in operational leadership and risk management. She is grounded in a proactive approach to risk management, consistently anticipating and addressing challenges to ensure operational resilience and long-term organizational success. Teena Marie is also passionate about building strong teams and cultivating inclusive, high-performance cultures.
