  • IR / Institutional Representative Training and Pre-Conference Event (all women invited) – $20 (participation open, walk up registration)
  • River Walk Dinner Barge – $35 – The River Barge Dinner event is sold out. To request inclusion on a Waiting List, should spaces for this event become available, email Rissa Potter at rpotter@cpupc.org no later than April 12, 2013.

A limited number of rooms have been blocked for TWHE participants at the special rate of $106 and must be reserved prior to March 27, 2013. The special room rate will be available for reservations booked from Wednesday, April 17 through Friday, April 19, 2013 (a maximum of three nights at the $106 daily rate) by mentioning the TWHE conference.

Note: When the conference room-block has been exceeded, the rate will increase to $126; rooms will be available, but no longer at the reduced conference rate.


Sara Laschever

Have you ever suffered the Would-of, Could-of, Should-of Blues? Fear no more–Author Sara Laschever will address women and negotiation by providing highlights from her book, “Women Don’t Ask: The High Cost of Avoiding Negotiation–and Positive Strategies for Change.” This session provides a guide to negotiating anything effectively using strategies that are comfortable for women.

Sara’s remarks will focus on the four-step action plan detailed in her second book, “Ask For It: How Women Can Use the Power of Negotiation to Get What They Really Want.”

With co-author Linda Babcock, Sara explores the phenomenon that women are much less likely than men to use negotiation to improve their circumstances. Conference participants will receive tips on refining their goals, polishing their skills, and thoroughly preparing for every kind of negotiation.

Sara is a writer and cultural commentator who has spent her career investigating the obstacles, detours, and special circumstances that shape women’s lives and careers. Her work has been published by The New York Times, The Harvard Business Review, The New York Review of Books, Vogue, Glamour, WomensBiz, and many other publications. 

Sara lives in Concord, Massachusetts with her husband and two children.

Darcy W. Hardy

Dr. Darcy W. Hardy is Assistant Vice Provost for Technology Education Initiatives at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is currently serving an Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) appointment with the Office of Adult and Vocational Education (OVAE) at the US Department of Education in Washington, DC.

During the plenary session, Dr. Hardy will explore communication methods in the context of social media in “Got Cyberetiquette?”, where you’ll receive tips for setting an example on your campus of appropriate and efficient communication applications.

Dr. Hardy has served and continues to serve on various editorial and advisory boards and has delivered hundreds of presentations, keynotes and workshops on distance education, online learning and leadership.  She and her husband have two daughters, both of whom recently graduated from The University of Texas at Austin.  Although she is currently living in Washington, DC, she and Rick and their dogs permanently reside in the Texas Hill Country city of San Marcos.


The Texas Women in Higher Education annual conference is designed by women administrators for women administrators in Texas universities and community colleges.  It provides professional development for leadership in a compact two-day format.  Each year our participant numbers grow as TWHE women come together to network and learn.  Some comments from previous conferences:
